Upon your arrival, we'll greet you with a Hotham’s Spiced Rum cocktail.

You'll join a group of other rum lovers in our purpose-built Distilling Room.

Perfect evening activity for date night or you and a friend!

Explore our Botanicals chest, where you’ll smell and taste amazing spices, and choose the ones you like best to distil and spice your own rum.

Our distiller will advise you on the quantities required.

You'll weigh out your botanicals and you’ll soon have a balanced recipe ready.

Next, you'll add these botanicals to your still, where you will start to distil your own rum.

You'll learn about the distillation process whilst you enjoy another rum-based cocktail and do some rum tasting.

Our distiller will talk to you about the history and characteristics of rum, and you'll learn about the different rum styles.

Taste

We'll encourage you to taste your rum as it distils and your botanicals release their flavours - see if you can identify them as they appear! 

We'll show you how to measure the strength of your rum, then you'll decide how spicy you want your finished rum to be.

Bottle

Enjoy another one of our delicious rum cocktails as you bottle your rum. Name and label your spiced rum before wax sealing to make it look as unique as it will taste.

Then, you'll apply the Hotham's stamp of approval - the perfect finishing touch to your handcrafted rum.

It's time to graduate! Celebrate completion of Rum School.

Finally, head up to our bar to enjoy a range of spirits distilled on-site along with a selection of craft beers.

Don't forget to pick up your bottle of rum and Rum School souvenirs before you head off home!
